Microbiology had been the most neglected branch of diagnostics due to the tediousness of media preparation. Even with availability of dehydrated media, making small quantities was difficult and at times wasteful.
Dynamicro took great pains to start commercial manufacturing of ready-to-use media in plates, alongwith slants and bottles in 1982. To allow use of multiple media in a single plate which will facilitate presumptive identification, Dynamicro devised the concept of Bi, Tri and Tetra plates. We also coined the words 'Bi', 'Tri', 'Tetra' and 'Mega'. With more than 25 years of experience in media manufacturing, Dynamicro has also become a center where pathologists' microbiological suggestions are welcomed and accordingly suitable solutions devised. Media should be used as freshly prepared as possible. We therefore do not believe in giving unnecessarily long expiry dates. Media should have quality ingredients adequate moisture content and proper sterility (Media with claim of longer expiry does not necessarily mean better quality media) Storage of ready-to-use media is required to be between 2°C to 8° C. Cooler temperatures can result in crystallization of water content form the media When the plates are then brought to normal temperatures, sweating effect is seen. Ensure therefore that plates are not stored under very cool conditions.
